The following information is what David had written down. Pictures of the car follow this information.
1939 Ford Model 922, 5 window coupe.
The car is a Model 922 which is most
easily recognizable by the horizontal rather than vertical grill.
Verifiable information on this car is limited because of circumstances, but here is what he knew and was fairly sure of.
David described the car as a 10 footer visually, but seems very serviceable in all other respects.
He thought the car was built about 15 years ago and looks to have been in storage for some time.
Car was in a storage building when we first saw it and covered in layers of dust, but with a fresh battery and fuel it fired and ran well.
David had driven the car a hundred or so miles after getting it.
The odometer reads 28
thousand plus which
may be accurate from build, but we do
not know.
While the car does not have a show car paint job it shows well and the flames are unique.
There is evidence of rust in bottom of doors and sill and along drip rails.
Paint is bubbled in several places, but
not flaking. David had clayed, polished,
and then waxed prior to
his passing.
Real chrome bumpers not seen much today due to cost of chrome.
Engine is nicely chromed and polished.
